Exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) include increased dyspnea, cough, sputum production, and purulence. It is important to be able to recognize at risk patients, as these costly exacerbations are associated with increased loss of lung function and poor quality of life, and also effect mortality.
